Happy Holidays from our family to yours!
We’re so grateful for all you’ve done this year to help us equip adults with disabilities with the skills needed to become independent; from building a career, to securing housing, to learning the crucial life skills needed to maintain independence.
In 2019, we’re excited to launch our newest program that will support our participants on their path to independence: a career-training coffee pop-up in the Mill Valley Community Center (MVCC) where participants will be trained to run a small business and become baristas.
The experience participants will gain goes far beyond learning how to make a delicious espresso and providing excellent customer service. It will teach skills like communication, adaptability and problem solving, as well as budgeting, tracking sales and marketing.
We’re thrilled that the Mill Valley Community Center has offered this space to us free of rent so that 100% of program income can go directly back to serving our participants. The MVCC is a hub in our community with an average of 600 daily visitors, so this program will give participants valuable experience working with the public while simultaneously showing our community how capable and work ready people with disabilities are.
To make this program a reality for our participants, we need to raise $15,000 to purchase the coffee pop-up equipment, create our training program curriculum and teach participants how to run a coffee business. Your donation by check or at www.connectics.org/donate will make that possible!
We really appreciate your support and all you do to empower diversity and inclusion in Marin. On behalf of our participants, staff and partners, thank you and Happy Holidays!
In community,
The ICS Team
