We're developing a garden at Homeward Bound!
ICS is excited to announce that we received a $20,000 grant from the AHEAD Program! Federal Home Loan Bank's AHEAD grant is awarded to nonprofits throughout the west coast for economic development projects.
ICS will use these funds to expand our garden job-training program, GEM, by developing a second garden at Homeward Bound. Homeward Bound provides shelter, food and services for individuals and families who are homeless, and we're grateful for the opportunity to join forces and build a garden on their unused land.
The garden will not only train our clients in business management, sustainable agriculture and customer service, but also help reduce food insecurity among Marin's most vulnerable populations, as a portion of the produce we grow will be donated to Homeward Bound's kitchen.
Stay tuned for more updates about this exciting partnership!
