At ICS, celebrating diversity is a huge part of our mission. Learning about different cultures, people and ideas helps all of us to be more open and accepting in our work and in our community. We opened up the opportunity for our staff to share their stories and culture, and what better way to share than over a meal?
Our Training Specialist, Shelly, kicked off this new staff activity with a delicious meal and lesson from Haiti. With the help of her aunt, Shelly prepared traditional Haitian chicken, rice, plantains and cabbage. We learned about the history of Haiti and the important role that Shelly's heritage plays in her life. Every other month an ICS staff member will host a lunch and lesson from their culture. We're looking forward to learning (and tasting) new things from all across the globe!
